This series captures the majestic Norwegian fjords and transforms them into a profound monochrome narrative. By stripping away the distraction of color, the images focus on a deeply unsettling contrast. As an aging cruise ship glides into the sanctuary of snowy mountains, its massive chimney spews thick black smoke. In this black and white world, the dark smear appears particularly sharp, resembling a scorched scar across the sky. It is a powerful visual irony, humanity travels to admire nature’s splendor, yet pollutes the land with primitive industrial exhaust in the process. Through this monochrome presentation, the environmental disaster is extracted from the landscape and turned into an eternal visual accusation, forcing the viewer to confront the gap between modern tourism and nature conservation.
