2020 began as any typical year, and then the world spiraled into the COVID-19 pandemic, something the world hadn’t experienced for generations. With this came panic and despair, food scarcities and seclusion. In moments when our population was permitted to travel outside the home, most ventured to the stores to procure what they could, from what was remaining on the shelves. Grocery stores, in particular, were hit hard, leaving bare shelves everywhere from paper commodities to canned provisions, to fresh produce. Stores became barren wastelands. As I walked through the store filled with nothing, I took photographs of the shelves with little to no items, exposing how challenging the times had become. As the pandemic has lessened somewhat, it is far from being over and supply issues still remain problematic today in 2023.
