Being in Qatar was like visiting a different world. I like a sentence from a documentary about Qatar which I saw. It says that visiting sites of Qatar is the closest experience to finding yourself in a “Tale of 1001 Nights”.

And yet, Qatar is also changing, and these changes are gaining momentum. Take a look at this picture. In the foreground you will see the Museum of Islamic Art. Modern architecture but paying homage to the centuries-old Arab tradition that transcends Qatar's borders.

And in the background you will see a modern city. Brightly lit skyscrapers, crowded streets, places where deals are done and where Qataris looking to the future make decisions about the direction of their country.

What was Qatar like 20 years ago and what will it be like 20 years from now?
