Bai Li is an Associate Professor and graduate supervisor at the School of Visual Communication Design, Luxun Academy of Fine Arts (LAFA), where she also serves as the director of the Image and Media Art Studio. She is a visiting professor at Lycée de Garçons Esch in Luxembourg, a member of PSA China (Photographic Society of America), the Liaoning Photographers Association, and the Shenyang Young Artists Association.
Bai graduated from the Photography Department of Luxun Academy of Fine Arts in 2007. In 2014, she was recognized as an Outstanding Expert in Innovation and Entrepreneurship by the Liaoning Innovation Center. Her work explores the intersections of photography, media art, and cultural memory, often reflecting on the relationship between space, time, and human perception.
She has held numerous solo exhibitions, including Monochrome Memories at the LAFA Art Museum in 2017, and Boundless Realm in 2023, which she also curated. Her international engagements include participation in the “Memory of Urban Relics” exhibition at Espace H₂O Gallery in Luxembourg in December 2022. That same year, her work was selected for the official Luxembourg-China 50th Anniversary Yearbook. In 2023, she held a solo exhibition at the Shenyang Cultural Art Museum and curated the touring photography exhibition Three Begets All Things in Dalian.
In 2024, her work Material of Time and Space was selected for the 14th National Art Exhibition of China.
Bai Li is the author and editor of multiple academic publications, including Beyond the Ordinary Vision, Lighting Techniques and Makeup for Photography, and Image and Cross-Media Communication in New Media Art. She has published over 20 academic papers in leading journals in China and abroad, focusing on the development of visual communication design in the era of new media.
Her practice blends theoretical insight with visual innovation, making her a prominent figure in contemporary Chinese media art and photography education.
